Repurposed and reimagined, Starbucks has gone back to basics with the launch of their 15th Avenue E Coffee and Tea store. The first of three experimental stores in Seattle, this Capitol Hill location loses the ubiquitous Starbucks branding and adopts the ambience of a traditional neighborhood coffeehouse. Completely gutted and redesigned using a plethora of recycled, reclaimed and refurbished eco-friendly materials, this old store is now primed and ready to play neighborhood host to live music and poetry readings.

Above the rustic barnwood-clad sales desk, a hand-chalked world map highlights the coffee regions and serves as the backdrop to a hanging vintage scale piled high with green coffee beans.

Open bins filled with whole bean coffee and burlap sacks from the Starbucks plant filled with coffee convey a "fresh-from-the-field" atmosphere. Discarded Starbucks shipping pallets were repurposed into unique chalkboard frames.

Wood salvaged from a dilapidated barn and reclaimed warehouse lights are used throughout - enhancing the rustic eco-chic coffeehouse ambience. Above a row of old refurbished movie theater seats, an entire philosophy text book was transformed into a unique one-of-a-kind wallpaper.

Metal ceiling tiles with a time-worn patina serve as a rustic backdrop to the condiments counter. Large photographs depicting coffee and tea rituals adorn the walls.

Assembled from a dismantled ship, a communal cupping table and repurposed chairs sit near the front window while custom-made rusted wire chandeliers hang overhead.
